Good and Bad knitting news
Lets start with the good news...
The Acorn mittens are finished. Now I'm completely in shape for the SnB day on the 3 of November! I already want to pack my bag with knitting stuff, lots of money, the mittens and the SnB Fryslân button, nice food, the tickets and train cart, but that's a bit to soon. Still have to sleep 21 nights. I'm counting.
And now the bad news.....
I completely fell in love with the pattern Iris of Kim Hargreaves (Rowan magazine). Now the back is finished and the love is not that big anymore.
Lots of dobs: do I still love the colour? Is the pattern not a bit to 'sweet' for my or to dull?
And I'm not pleased with the way the first rows came out, they flip-over.
And I know that this habit will stay this way, also after blocking.
Now I take a firm decision (for me a very big one, because I hate it): FROG,frog,frog..........

Good for you! sometimes frogging is the only answer :-) I love the mittens by the way
Sometimes it's better to frog, than to continue with something you probably won't wear.
Vergeet niet ook je mysterysjaal 3 in te pakken voor 3 november!
Dappere dodo... maar alles beter dan iets dat helemaal af is en ongedragen in de kast hangt.
Oh, en je 'mitts' zijn beauties.
Wat jammer ik vind het zeker ook een leuk patroontje, maar soms kan iets tegen vallen en dan is uithalen de enige oplossing. Mooie wol kan je vast wel iets anders leuks van maken.
Tijm, goed hoor, om dit vestje uit te halen. Het patroon is mooi, de wol ook wel, de combinatie is wel erg liefjes ... Zonde van je werk om door te gaan met iets wat je niet helemaal aanstaat.
Jammer, jammer, maar als iets je niet bevalt, dan draag je het toch niet. Overigens: een remedie tegen omkrullen is: aan de achterkant met dun garen overmazen. Dat heb ik wel eens met een trui voor mijn dochter gedaan. Die trui mocht beslidt geen boord en mocht natuurlijk ook niet krullen.
Ik hoop je handschoentjes in Rotterdam te bewonderen. Ook bij mij liggen de kaarten al klaar. Ik zal een muis op mijn rugzak zetten.
Something frogging is hard to do...maar dan krijg je er wel iets moois voor terug (sprak ze uit ervaring).
What a pity about Iris. She looks really nice in the original photograph. But as the Dutch saying goes: 'Beter ten halve uitgehaald, dan ten hele gedwaald.'
I am also really looking forward to November 3rd.
ja, als het je tegen staat, dan zit er gewoon niets anders op...that's how it goes...
Kan je er na het 'froggen' iets mooiers van maken, toch een leuk vooruitzicht!(sprak ze wijs) :) handschoentjes zijn erg mooi geworden!! Vooruit, jij mag ook mee ;)
When in doubt, frog.... Because you'll always be the one who knows that you're not satisfied with the result.
Lesson learnt and still going strong...
Wat jammer, het model lijkt me erg leuk. Maar, als je het gevoel hebt dat het niets wordt: uithalen!!
ooo, en het hele rugpand al af? au au au. maar ja, soms is er geen andere manier...
